Finished first vid, dumped 5GB of various cache files and moving on the second vid. Will share finals once they are all compete. Part of the reason is that I've just washed my transfer flash disk in my drink. But don't worry, the video is stored on multiple places so it won't get lost. It will also help me keep being motivated. Clouds test, they do not work correct so far and a lot of settings to edit to make this work well, but good thing is that unlike mist I can make everything in single render, mist had to be rendered alone on separate set of png files. This will render slow, but in the end it will be faster. The best is that I have to create that clouds effect only once, particles seem to work well.
(hitting table with head...) and to the smoke emitter again it seems... at least it seems to work in cycles for a change. chmm... --------------------------------- Finally solved the clouds problem... --------------------------------- New sky and fog edit as requested. Once we agree on all changes, I'll re-render the first vid... Found out that I left bluish shade in main light that is why the roofs were little dim. I set it now on pure white. It changes color hue on entire scene... Did some changes on the clock and on oveall light.

Since I'm waiting and dealing with changes, no rendering going on now. So I concentrate on the storm clouds in second and third video. It is slowly starting to look good.

This is now discarded version of first cut-scene, as I did some changes and now render new version. Perhaps someone can give me some useful feedback? Note: I discarded the moon and did 7 noticeable alterations, including clock tower gold texture change, overall light, sky, bats path-finding and adding more mist.

I wouldn't discard that moon. It was a great touch.

As you wish...
While I still keep fixing first cut-scene, I'm thinking about endgame scene compositing. Camera is prepared for first part, which is in fact one scene split into three parts during the vid. I'm thinking about adding two things to the endgame scene and one to inverted castle scene. At the endgame vid first idea are bats escaping the castle. Other one is sunrise at the very end of video. Only in like three last seconds including fading out of the vid. I also think about adding bats to the inverted castle scene, where while camera moves up, the bats would fly up along it in a circle around main tower and then they would start flying in circle around main tower of inverted castle.

I like the idea of bats escaping and the sunrine! Those are amazing ideas. The original video of the castle breaking up wasn't that great. The light beam coming down from heaven to tear it up was a nice touch. But the part near the end where it zooms in as breaking up before it is taken up into the sky is so bad, I can't tell what the hell was supposed to be going on there. The one in DXC is a thousand times better (except that it leaves a lot of the bottom half of the castle still intact). But even the effect they have of a dust cross being made at the start is a badass touch. There are even lots of dust and rock particles to make it look much more real.
About that last part: I'd have to see what you are talking about with the bats flying around the inverted castle. But I don't think it would really make much sense to have bats up in the clouds. Sounds like it might look funny.

Glad that I opened it up, then. The castle falling apart will be little difficult trick. The main take with castle from the distance is cut into three parts in the scene plus there are two takes from the close, which I would make very different from original to enjoy more of little updated and more detailed effect of castle falling apart instead of waving scene there is. (Glad I make all that work with all buildings of the castle and all those windows) Can't say I blame the animators of original cuts for low quality though, for something done 20 years back it was done well. Their mist is done with animated texture particles and looks neat. It is low poly castle that makes the effect of it falling apart look so low. I will multiply the cuts on the castle so the castle will fall into many more parts.
Castle flying upwards is unique in Castlevania games, if I'm correct. I would try to save it before we would consider castle falling down instead. In the end scenes with Richer, Maria and Al is the view of surroundings of the castle and there is no debris from the castle which would be there if it fell down.

Woke up early today with idea and finaly the right one for the clouds of magic storm. Vid includes the clouds I rendered before and didn't like them, second version is what it looks like right now. This time smoke simulation works well, Doesn't behave as I would like entirely, but will tweak settings more and make some empty spaces to make clouds little more like in original, the spirals will be more visible in final as well. Also it renders in acceptable time, which was a relief. Must also find out, how the start of clouds will work in final, now it looks little weird, but that will wait a little longer.

Warning: very long and boring video, mainly meant for Robs ON, little excursion into Blender rendering. Also not pointed out there that everything I render in cycles render, but fog and storm in Blender render, because of that it has to be rendered separately and then put together in editor.
Thanks a lot for screencaps and vid. Glad to see that you pointed same mistake as Esco. I don't think we will reopen editing of first vid, although I do have Blender files, this is done. However I will gladly accept any ideas on the second and third video. And as I said in vid, you can do HDRI texture for the sunrise I plan on the ending video.

Hey Morell. it's not so boring for people who know that process is process. The final product of 3D jobs is a result of blood, sweat, and tears. I'm also a 3D artist (using Maya and Mental Ray as renderer) and i know how terrible is to set scenes working with some f*cking large files that make the PC slow as a tortoise and taking hours of our lives just rendering. As 2D, 3D or even illustration, scenes aways require some opinion and i don't mind when Esco tells me some adjust to the arts. In the end the piece works. So don't worry about my "grumpy" comments. The hardest part of the job you already did. Just continue with details as temperature colors and texture for objects and global illumination and fog distribution. Surely it will be awesome at all

Well, as I said, you had excellent ideas... And you are right, every good work is result of blood, sweat and tears. And as I said, the first vid is done and unlikely to be edited further. (status of my work is in the first comment in this threat, I've put it there to be of orientation for anyone who comes and doesn't know the current status.) Last three weeks all I do is the storm clouds and sometimes it really annoys me, when it doesn't work at all. Only in last few days I'm finally getting something I desired. Although I think I will be working like one more week on it to achieve something that I will like to use. The mountains I will surely use for the sunrise, because the sun definitely reveals details on the scene, so why not on the background as well? It makes nice sense and is very easy to implement. --------------------------------------------- Now to the sceneratio of the ending vid. Here are possibilities.
- 1. The light beam will start only on the main tower tearing it apart from top to the bottom, (the parts will fly either up or down, both can be reasonable) then it will spread to the rest of the castle and the walls around and then fades away, when the castle is gone.
[/b][li] 2 The light comes, the castle is slowly turning transparent until it disappears completely and the light fades.
[/li]
[li] 3 Something else, opened to ideas[/li][/ul] But I think that first idea, that comes mostly from original vid might be usable and cool enough. Adding smoke to colapsing... hmmm, I don't like sound of that but will keep that in mind for time when the vid is done as possible final touch. --------------------------- BTW I add here the ski texture used in the vids. First one is the one in use, the other two are half edited with the mountains, should be better source of the mountains shapes... and the original sky I found on free resources. If you or anyone wishes to make sunrise texture, better little brighter on one side, darker at the other, it can be done. I will do it myself, but if someone is feeling creative or bored...

Hey Morell Here l'm sending below the PSD file of blending layers to control the lights and shadows for sky, sunrise and mountain color temperature for the texture. we.tl/t-eFZiSxVCw2 And here just a fast explanation to use each layer that i added on it . Hope that it helps the process "P.S: Esco, don't worry about corrections for paintings. i'm finishing them"

Almost instantly usable, I just have to put the darker area on both sides so it looks real and not as texture. XD The edges of the texture are connected the left edge jumps at the right edge. and cut it so the sunrise is on the right position. (far easier than turning entire scene and altering the camera moving) Thanks for the work.
BTW here we have preview of the first 13 seconds of the video, The storm is much better now, but I still have to manage it as it acts kind of funny. I will add fade in effect to make it start better, but it will not be the same as in original then.

And I think it's a good thing seeing 2 talented artists converse about topics such as this. Morrell: good attempt. But the clouds don't look right as is. The original video's clouds looked better the way they faded in. Here it looks like puffs of smoke are just forming up little by little randomly. It makes it look odd. I'm not sure if this is due to the rendering quality speed or what. But having little amounts of clouds/smoke(?) just appear like that as is makes it look off. I'd recommend playing the original vid in slow motion. It might give you move insight as to what they did.
