I want to keep original and improve it... only afterwards I can make more vids... was thinking about making vid for some set of vampyric songs.
About blood moon and red ambience, that I plan for appearing of inverted castle only. Some red appears there in original, so I'll add some more and more visible. Night is dark enough alone and full moon is planned in the first scene to be behind the throne room at the end of the scene. I will also redo the sky to be more detailed, less color and light in general to darken as the castle will have a lot of lights itself... Yeah I know that bat folds wing"fingers" when flying, I had to learn to animate and bone it first, so adding second bone to the wing should not be dificoult, but if I'll do that I would probably have to add bones to all fingers and joints and that would be entirely different way of animating. Thinking about that.
And about the leaves, chains and debris... the lake seems better clear, so I'm not really for that idea, especialy when adapting leaves to the water moving... that I didn't solved yet either. I plan only one object floating in the water. Fog is planned, I just do one thing at a time on the scene. Right now I'm foresting the scene.
By the way... really nice pictures, look little too bright to me. Still, nice work.

The trees are from Arathi highlands. I have to edit textures and reduce number of red trees somehow.
Finally found decent skeleton in game resources from Skyrim. Not the best texture, but will serve once boned... Gah, pile of bones which I have to add bones to, lol!
BTW if anyone is little insane graphic and can redraw map from the first vid (first there is text, then camera moves around the map, which fades into scene with the castle, I mean that map) into single picture, I would be glad. I will do it myself but if someone would do it for me, it would be of real help. Wouldn't mind if it were of little better resolution than in the vid.

That's looking amazing Morell! I agree with you on the redwoods, far too many of them and they really stick out. Good catch there!

It's the map of Juan de la Cosa (horizontally inverted). Here is a scan.

That water is going to give me more headache as I'm not satisfied with it yet, although it already moves nicely... Oh and fixed the trees. This was made with res 640x480, which I thought to be decent compromise between quality and file size for the game, (this particular vid takes 30MB) although I wouldn't mind to go for bigger. Thoughts on the resolution? Also cosidering something like 1280x1024 as alternative for crazies... and maybe for use on youtube.
Note: you might notice slight lag in animation, that is because I was looking for a loop so I save rendering time for preview. In final I'll make it different way than here, so there will be perfect fluent.

It's looking pretty good. I would like to see a higher res version though.

You know, right now you gave me right idea. I'll make final version only in hi-res and you will scale it down to the res and size you will need. I just think that having game with full-hd vids would make the vids take most of the size of the game, which doesn't feel right to me.
I can make previews with higher res, but this small one was being done during about half an hour, so I won't be doing these WIP vids in hi-res, except the screen records of course. The reason is time consumption, when the Blender renders, I cannot edit, (GPU cannot work on two things in Blender at the same time, tried that) so I must wait, which is frustrating. I could do high res previews, but either by making my PC work overnight, which I won't do anyway, or I would have to hire a machine online, which costs money... I can do this for free with using my own machinery so why to waste money when there is no need to?
Just for you to know, it takes 40 to 60 seconds to render single frame in 1280x1024 and still not everything is on the scene yet. Considering that, when I want vid to be 30 FPS, (which shoudl be enough) the time consumption is evident, not to mention if I or you would like to do 60 FPS.
I want to save those long time consuming renders for final vids only. Already overflown with waiting when testing water and crashing blender on figuring out the mist emulation. XD The preview here is end of 5 hours of rendering (I can see some settings only on rendered outcome) and changing settings on much smaller scale, because each frame must be recalculated (water is using two generated vector textures which now must be drawn again for each frame) and only then Blender loads textures and begins drawing picture, as I use physics (cycles) render, which gives me way better result and many more settings available.
Well, good news is that I'm ill, so locked home again, despite the fact that it is not really allowed to go outside in my country anyway now. (also I quit my job, I hate to bee ill because of working) So I will have few days of time to push this forward.

Sorry to hear that you are sick. I hope you feel better soon. But I was referring to a hi-res version of just this vid so I can determine whether I want to go low or high res in the end. NOT all of them. This way I can tell you now which want I want to go moving forward. There's no need to waste TONS of time rendering each update like that.
Though I will say that I am surprised to hear that it takes a minute to render 1 frame at that size. That is an obscene amount of time and very abnormal (Unless your PC is low spec or very old). Have you looked into alternative quicker/easier ways to render 3D scenes into a more compressed and common video format?

I'm working with mp4 format, which is actually pretty small... Oh, my pc... EMBER intel core i3 3.8Ghz, 4cores 16GB RAM AMD Radeon R7 360 Desktop
For final render I can also set notebook to work, WRAITH AMD Ryzen 7 2.3GHZ 8 cores 8GB RAM (but counting 6, 2 are reserved for touch screen) AMD Radeon RX vega 10
I would say that both are decent, not low-cost, but nothing too insane either. But okay, I'll make you one hi-res preview for that reason, because it is very good reason... 120 frames, 30 secs... I can do it today. Not in the mode for mist. XD
And answer is yes, I seek the ways to speed up the process, I reduce the samples to the needed minimum, I seek the ways to save RAM memory, I keep optimizing the process as much as possible, already reduced the time to render like 3 or 4 times. I even tried to have 2 blenders opened at once, but GPU cannot handle rendering, while computing for another instance of Blender. But the time is not obsolete at all, Blender is PRO program designed to make peak quality 3D and simply takes it's time. It's not a game engine, although it can render in "game mode" as well, but the outcome is much less impressive. Unfortunately Blender is one of a kind, it has been developing for more than 15 years I believe and it is still completely free, small and effective. I was researching 3DS max, Maya and Cinema 4D, but none has small size or efficiency of Blender, needles to say a vast active community, that keeps improving the program and plugins. Whatever Blender is missing, there is like 90% chance that someone else encountered it and wrote plugin to add it into Blender. So far I've found either tutorial or plugin for anything I wanted in Blender.
--------------------
I took a look at length of the sequences, 1:05, 0:50 and 0:40 approximately, so if minute in 1280x1024 takes now 50MB, let's expect 60MB, then we get at 180MB total... Maybe I was afraid for no reason in the end, it won't be that big I believe now.
--------------------
just figured out that youtube is reducing down all my videos for whatever reason, because they are not in whatever standardized resolutions... uses 1440 x 1080 instead, which is standard, well that is usable res for me... Honestly I think about keeping 4:3 aspect ratio to honor the original game, 16:9 would mean either widening the scene or cutting from it. I don't like the idea.
The vid is 1440 x 1080.

Yeah, that looks way, way better. You can make the previews in low res to save time, and we'll just make the final one in high-res. 180 MB total for all 3 vids isn't a big deal to me.

Glad I took camera to film my computers today during rendering. This time I show you how it looks when both my computers are working. XD After that my first attempt with map and text, sound included, but timing is wrong so I'll have to rework it. Will do it tomorrow. Comparing of new and old vid is at the end of the vid. Looks very promising now. And I've heard that from you in every single video of yours. Seeing is believing. XD I struggled with low light and tried rendering in new 2.8 Blender, turned out awful, the program thinks entirely different than older versions, so I ended with upgrading to 2.79, which has feature I need, while preserving the water I desire. Didn't found the tut for water in new Blender... So moving rendering into newer Blender was discarded. I tried to improve bat's animation with added bones, but it turned so awful that I dumped it. Still it is very nice looking, so now I put the bats on the scene, will be at least 12 of them, but thinking about at least 20. Will look nice. Considering giving the bats really shiny red eyes, but won't be much visible.
(still cooling both processors from emulating and rendering mist. XD Joking. The fog was rendering the longest time. The clouds will be similar pain, but now I know how to limit processor usage, so the machines will survive it, although it will take longer time, but I can finaly render with blender render during night without overheating notebook. That junk doesn't ventilate well.)
