I'd like to see some leftovers appear in your reimagining of sotn.
Like the Belmont Hold ending up under possession of alucard and becoming part of the castle. Would make a great new area.
The place was huge in the show with multiple levels and towering staircases. Book case after book case full of volumes and artifacts. Could show the aftermath and damage from the battle that went down. Dust particle effects and cobwebs everywhere that fall when you touch them as if it hasn't been touched in decades.
I wouldn't even put mythical enemies down there, or any at all for that matter. It would make sense that the new addition would go un-noticed by Dracula and the gang considering the castle is practically it's own entity. I wouldn't even have music to give it that solemn and forgotten vibe.
You could have the area boss be some damned creature the Belmonts locked away in a box centuries ago. Or even better, introduce the boss up in the castle, have alucard "beat" it by making it fall through the floor followed by a cave in that buried it, only later to have dug it's way down to the Hold, falling through the ceiling as alucard explores the area, disrupting the vibe and creating an unexpected re-match, creating even more damage.
Definitely keep the family bestiary down there instead of in the main library. Trevor mentions it in the show

In the official lore the castle can move. They do so alot in the show, at one point Sypha even remotely overwhelmed the engine to brings the castle to the belmont Hold.
It might make a nice little flavor mechanism. You could have a couple revolving areas outside of the castle. Say if you moved it, instead of walking out the front gate into the cemetary you walk out into the ruined city of Braila or Greshit, Could even have some assets in the far background change, like far away mountains appear, weather or the sky changing, ect.
Could even work the Hold into that as one of the locations instead of being part of the castle itself. Say when you walk out of the front gate it's just a small wooded area instead of the cemetary or Braila, but elsewhere in the castle it opens up to the Hold. Make it a remote area so some players might miss it

The fallen vampire generals might could make a cameo, most had background rolls with no dialog, but GodBrand was fully fleshed out and Carmila has been in a couple of the games as a naked chick riding a skull. You could rip some voice clips from the show. Then there are all the generic fallen vampire troops. Would make sense those dead vampires would be mucking around the castle right? Maybe have some unsaid or implied micro plot involving them and Olrox

My impression from the Netflix series was that it was rather in a hurry to be done as fast as possible. I thought that is going to be at least trice as long. I mean, the introduction was damn perfect, but afterwards... honestly no character is given enough of space despite hours of timeline and The events in the castle are better covered than outside of it, which should had been focused on more... I mean, excommunicated hunter from cursed family, half-blood vampire and a witch must have hell of a trouble traveling christian lands filled with superstitions and terror from unknown forces of Darkness coming from raging Dracula. God I was so much looking for that to see it in action...
I just think that it was just half done. And yet it is peak among game-based anime...
It is my personal opinion that ideas from Netflix are not thought enough to their's depth. It would require a lot of thinking to connect it with the line of the game and the lore, so it forges coherent whole...

It's far from perfect for sure. Especially in the second season when they had entire episodes that barely even featured the main cast and dragged on about vampire politics. The show itself is off topic.
I'm more focusing on expanding sotn in the metroidvania sense. I just want to run up into some remote area of the castle, hit a switch (or orb or interact with some small play mechanic) and see obvious changes with the open air background/sky layers to let the player know SOMETHING has happened and give us a reason to go explore to see what else changed.
I know there are some stat boosts that you can go back to the castle entrance with the high jump to get, but otherwise there is very little reason to go there other than to re-see all the amazing effort they put into that hallway and to play with the owel knight. I know I've spent alot of time trying to get outside and bypassing 200% map coverage.
Teleporting the castle and walking out of the front gate to see a few new areas would just be so cool. And having a sort of hidden 3rd or 4th area (Belmont hold) that you access from a completely different area of the castle would just blow my mind to discover.
In the regular game there is so much you can miss (the entire second half of the game, for instance). And I just love that.

I'm also a huge fan of the vague stuff. Boots of height, the dodo rune sword, the coin sword from the yoyo knight, Masamune having absolutely nothing telling you it has it's own stats, sword of dawn, shield rod, peanuts. Most of these are completely useless, but I still run around summoning armies of skeletons.
