Esco confirmed this will have a hard mode, but he didn't talk much more about game modes, so I make these suggestions:
In Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia you can play hard mode capped at lvl 1 or lvl 25. In SotN the game allows you to handicap and limit yourself by doing no gear runs, no save room runs, etc, but you can't do no exp runs... until PoR and OoE added that mode. It is great for hardcore players, adds lots of replayability and game duration, each room becomes a challenge and feels great when you make it to the next save room. Another great addition would be refighting bosses when you want. Some Castlevania games have a boss rush mode, but it has the problem of scaling. The first bosses die almost oneshooted, and only the last ones are challenging. Next games fixed it by adding several boss rushes, each one with different bosses and different player lvl. Another solution could be to tweak life and dmg numbers of some bosses so they are not underpowered. And last, the opportunity to refight bosses individually. I loved how Hollow Knight does this: there is a room full of statues, one for each boss. You go to a statue, select difficulty (normal, hard or instakill) and fight that boss. After the fight, you will always appear next to the statue, even if you died. Again, there is the problem of dmg and life scaling of earlier bosses.

My thought is to scale the boss to x5 health and make it available as a nest of evil esque location after defeating dracula or right before you defeat him.

I like the way hollow knight setup its boss rush... it is very well done, creative and most of all: fun.

This would be great! What about if you wanted to fight a boss again, there can be a statue like the one mentioned with Hollow Knight in the actual boss room? You can set it to scale up with your level as well! This would combine really well with my post about a crafting system, as it would allow bosses to actually drop materials since they aren't a one-fight deal anymore at that point. It would ultimately allow...BADASS BOSS WEAPONS!!! Not to mention, it would allow quite a bit more longevity to the game.

This is a very good idea and would work well with the info I've been conceiving of for a new game+! But for now, can't really give that mode too much thought sadly. Don't want feature bloat to keep this from coming out.
Still, I'm definitely writing this idea down.
